“During Covid I have created an account on the social media platform TikTok. To my greatest surprise it was not full of dancing girls, as I heard it being described around. Instead it was full of people from around the world shearing their lives, perspectives and experiences. As naturally curious person I found that absolutely fascinating. Those TikTok content creators were quickly turning into my community in that time of restricted physical human interactions. So naturally as it happens with all people around me in real life, I started to notice the unique and beautiful in each of them and feeling an urge to draw them.”
“There were so many people I wanted to draw, the project started to shape in my head as a 100 day drawing challenge.”
“The series is drawn in very strong vertical format, to fit the way the work was being displayed and viewed on mobile phones through TikTok.”
“My style of drawing is strongly influenced by my traditional art education. However it is so interesting to see how my 20 years of game development art creating has brought in a subtle stylization. ”

Neli Chaneva is a multidisciplinary artist based in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. She has received her formal art education in Bulgaria, where she is from originally.
Neli’s career over the last 20 years has been in digital media, predominantly in game development. She is taking the position of an Art Manager for the largest NZ game development company PikPok (Wellington) for 4 years.
However she have been looking into her traditional art roots more in her latest projects. She loves to combine traditional with modern techniques, mediums and artistic styles.
“The way you draw is so expressive, I love it!”
“Really nice, stylized just enough to feel animated, but still clearly recognizable”
“I love seeing how your art has evolved since day 1 of this challenge”
